ClinicalGAN Intervention

From Raw Patient Data
to Digital Twins

The core idea is deceptively simple: build a virtual copy of every enrolled patient — a digital twin — and use that twin to predict where the real patient is heading before things go wrong.

When a patient enters a trial, ClinicalGAN has already learned from thousands of prior patient journeys — visit by visit, test score by test score, and dropout event by dropout event. Instead of learning what the “average” patient does, it learns the full range of trajectories for patients with similar characteristics.

Age, disease severity, treatment arm, and therapy history are fed into the model to generate a personalised simulation of where that patient is most likely to go across future visits.

At every new visit, the patient’s real measurements are compared against their predicted path. If everything looks normal, nothing happens. But if warning signs appear — worsening disease scores or missed appointments — alerts are triggered immediately so coordinators or nurses can intervene before dropout happens.

This changes trial monitoring from something retrospective into something continuous and proactive. Traditional systems audit what already happened. ClinicalGAN predicts what is likely to happen next.

The commercial impact is even larger. Instead of recruiting hundreds of placebo patients, ClinicalGAN can generate synthetic placebo cohorts matched to the enrolled population. The statistical analysis remains comparable, but the trial avoids recruiting and monitoring patients who would never receive therapeutic benefit.

The result: potentially $100–300 million saved per trial and timelines shortened by 12–18 months.
